About the Course:
Lisa Desmarais' presentation titled "The Importance of Professional Standards: Their Meaning and Value", will help students understand how professional standards for appraisal practice came to be, why they are necessary, and how their enforcement is key to their impact.
Marshall Miller's presentation titled "How Did We Get Here?" will give attendees a background of how and why the current theories, laws, rules, and practices came to be and where we might be headed in the future.
This class is approved for 3.5-hours of CE through the South Dakota Appraisal Certification Program.
South Dakota real estate CE has been applied for.
About the Instructor:
Lisa Desmarais is currently the Vice President of Appraisal Issues for The Appraisal Foundation. Prior to joining The Appraisal Foundation, Lisa owned her own residential appraisal firm and was heavily involved in all facets of the appraisal profession. In addition to mentoring aspiring appraisers and teaching seminars, she published several papers and served as a peer reviewer for others in the profession.
Marshall Miller began his career in real estate in 1983. Through the years, he has acquired a SD Real Estate Broker's license and a SD Certified General Appraiser license. He is a founding member of the Professional Appraisers Association of SD (PAASD) and is a past and present member of the PAASD Board of Directors.
